Technical
Information....The
UtiliTrade software system
is built using a standard
3 tier architecture for
maximum performance and
reliability.

Our
user interface is HTML
delivered under a JSP
environment. The JSP/Servlet
container requires a servlet
1.4 container implementation.
Both commercial and open
source J2EE application
servers are supported.
There is no vendor specific
code making our application
quite portable between
J2EE application servers.
The
application/middle tier
layer is server-based
and is written in JAVA.
Interfaces to the middle
tier use a message orientated
middleware, which enable
both vertical (separation
of database and application
server) and horizontal
(multiple application
servers) scalability.
Our product architecture
lends itself well to enterprise
integration and we are
completing development
work to expose our messaging
middleware to allow integration
into financials and document
management systems for
another client. This architecture
minimises database licencing
costs as the majority
of computationally intensive
tasks are completed outside
of the database environment.
We
support a number of different
options for backend database
systems:
- Oracle
8i and 9i
- SQL
Server 2000
We
are currently in the process
of certifying our product
against Oracle 10g and
testing the SQL Server
2005 early release while
offering a number of different
deployment options suiting
both small and large installations.

The
server-based functionality
is designed to run on
any *nix or windows platform
and the client interface
is designed to run using
either the Microsoft Windows
Internet Explorer 5+ browser
or the Mozilla Firefox
browser. For ease of operator
use the software has been
designed to maximise the
use of standard browser
functionality.
